The ancestors of this breed were brought to England in 1007. For centuries, they were used to guard flocks of sheep and to serve as family companions. Today, they are one of the most agreeable of small house dogs. They are lively, affectionate and easy to train. Queen Elizabeth II has several pet Corgis.
