Collies have been held in high regard as sheep dogs for centuries. Queen Victoria helped promote the breed as a companion pet in the 1800s. The most famous Collie was "Lassie" who won the hearts of every merican family. Suspicious of strangers and protective of their masters especially children, they are an exceptional family pet.
