The Cockatese is a hybrid cross between a Cocker Spaniel and a Maltese. They tend to be respectful of their masters' authority and don't tend to challenge. Cockatese are usually cheerful and endearing - a happy tail-wagger. They are lively, playful and devoted, but should be socialized well when they are young to avoid a tendency for shyness.
Daily gently combing and brushing of the coat is important. Frequent cleaning of the eyes is also recommended to prevent staining. Cockatese have plenty of stamina and need regular exercise. They should be taken on long daily walks.
